Locking up your cargo trailer.
I'm seriously considering a cargo trailer for doing the grocery shopping. I use my car (which two of my jobs require me to have) as little as possible, and I'd like to cut out the bit where I use it for shopping too. What I'm wondering is, how do I lock up my bike and trailer securely at the supermarket?

Just run a cable lock between the trailer (including one of its wheels) and the bike. That's about the best you can do.

Look at it this way......
If you want to "prevent" a thief from taking the bike/trailer you will fail no matter how hard you try.If you want to "slow down/discourage" a thief then any method of locking will do. Locks of any kind will all fail at somepoint. Concentrate on making it diffcult to steal so some one will notice the thief in the act. That is the best plan.........;) ;) |
Yeah it's like getting away from a bear. You don't have to run faster than the bear--just run a little faster than the person you're with. And so your bike/trailer doesn't have to be theft-proof--just a little more theft-proof than the one parked next to it.

Now the hard part is securing what's on the trailer. So far I just take it all with me, but that can be a real PITA. |
