Rohloff Hub
I've been bicycle commuting since June with various equipment including an electric bicycle.
I just purchased on ebay a used Rohloff hub on a 26" wheel. When I purchased, I assumed I could have the hub moved to a 700c hub. Is anyone able to confirm my assumption is correct? Another way of looking at it....I'm trying to confirm that if I purchased a new Rohloff hub, Rohloff does not have different sizes for installation on a 26" or a 700C hub. Any help is appreciated. |
you're all set.

The hub should work fine on the 700c rims. You'll need shortish spokes, of course.
Is it one of the 14 speed speedhubs? Do you mind revealing how much you got it for? |
Response to Rohloff price question
Regarding your question on how much I paid for Rohloff hub:
Not at all, I was the high bidder for a used Rohloff Speedhub (14 speed of course). The wheel came on a 26" wheel and I'd like to change to a 700c hub to put on the Koga Terraliner frame I also recently purchased on Ebay. The cost of the hub was $900. I bid a little on the high side for a used hub, but I've been runner-up bidder on several Rohloffs and I was tired of messing with the auction process. |
congratulations on the 14spd hub. Apparently they have good resale value! :D
the number of spoke holes on the rohloff and the new rim must match, and then you need spokes that are the right length to connect the two.... and a person willing to assemble the wheel. That's all there is to it. |

Very doable, I have one laced up on a 700c Mavic Open Pro rim, and am running 23mm tires. I did have to order spokes to fit. One thing that does matter (not in rim size but in exchangeability between frames) is if it is a hub that uses "Rohloff OEM" dropouts or is it one that uses the torsion bar. They are the two ways Rohloff keeps the hub from spinning, and the torsion bar can be used with any dropout and the "OEM" hubs, not using the bar, must be mounted to a Rohloff specific dropout.

I also have one mated with a Mavic CXP33 on a commuter that has been trouble free for 2K miles.
