Work production at a copy shop not having or having a car makes no real difference, though I have biked small runs that didn't get delivered or odered after hours but that is completely optional I work second shift and we don't deliver during those hours. I recently turned down a customers request to deliver a job at midnight to downton last friday only because it was labor day weekend and that part of town is known for the bars and nightclubs and dui's even if I drove I still wouldn't have done it. Now Had it been any other night I probably would have.

When I was car-ownership-free for 6 years in Winnipeg, I was an Engineering Technologist for a large farm machinery manufacturing company located about 6.5 km from where I lived. Cycling to and from work was a great way to start and end my work day.

i am a grocer and on my pay you need to use a bike. i am amazed at how few people in my area use bikes. i just went to the corner cvs drug store and was told they just pay minimum wage when they hire, yet all the workers seem to have cars, go figure.

I am an adult day care attendant....well in reality I am a Project Engineer for a national roofing contractor My job could not be done with out a truck due to jobsites being scattered all over the country. However once I get to a site and set up I usually leave the truck parked and ride the bike as much as possible.

I am considering a career change to something that would not require a car, just haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up.

Funny, I used those exact words while talking to Rowan tonight about myself.

I make web sites for small business and not-for-profits.

I also work quarter-time each at the circulation desk at two different neighborhood branches of the Rochester Public Library.

Being car-free has no impact on either. Although I've become the go-to guy at the library for cycling advice.

I work for the local electric utility. My office is 4 miles from home, and bike commuting is supported around here. No problems.

Internal Auditor at a Financial services/insurance company. I live 2 miles from work and my boss lets me keep my bike in my office. He's a bike rider too but for triathlons.

I'm retired now but in the past I was able to do bike commuting while working as a computer programmer. I did mostly the technical kinds of stuff with little customer contact. I also did bike commuting for a couple of years when I was a graduate student.

I'm a psych tech. I'm sure this has no bearing on my decision to bike commute.

Ship Designer for the Navy.

Cycling and work have nothing to do with eachother. That being said. I may have the safest place to lock a bike at work... about 50 yards and in plain sight of the Marine Guard shack!

Helps that they know me and the ride also.

I work for a telecom company. Over the past 8 years, I've been an engineer, with a company van, worked in an office 22 miles from my house, which I commuted to on the bus, and now I'm an engineer again. There is some discussion about vans; I'm currently borrowing somebody else's while they're on holiday - it seems fairly soon we will be sharing, and as I am also moving into the city in a few weeks, I'll likely use my bike a lot more.

I am back in grad school. Unfortunately, there is no way I can afford to be in school and also be car free. I hope to be car free again once I get out.

Sadly, I work at Satan's superstore: Wal-Mart. And will likely continue to do so for the near future. I don't like it most days, but I've met some genuinely good, hardworking people.
I have an indoor location to store my bike, and nobody really says anything. A lot of people actually seem very supportive of it, and ask me about it a lot.

My bike's there on the bottom left, that's also the "vestibule" of my work area, that big door leads to the freezer I work in.

I couldnt have harvested the coast and woods here in Maine because of the bulk and weight of the products with anything but engines but sailing was a big part of my work on the coast and my fondest year round memory./still love to row and sail in winter the beauty is indiscribable.

I'm a computer programmer. I could commute by donkey and it wouldn't impact my job. (Although there's no rack outside for donkeys..)

I'm a live out Nanny..Not the most glamorous of jobs but hubbys work allows me to do more of what I love to do as opposed to just doing. I dont bike to work but I bike at work as part of my duties of chauffeur to and fro between two different schools.

I'm a product specialist for a healthcare manufacturer. Being car free really doesn't effect my job at all, since I sit behind a desk all day answering questions for co-workers.

I'm also going to school on-line to finish my degree. Being car free doesn't effect my school schedule as much as my work schedule does.
