One would be led to think that. (It was 6am).

I don't know that you get pelted every day, so you may not want to carry such a bottle on a daily basis.

I accept no responsibility for the results of these actions. Fully loaded in an up-armored HMMWV is very different than riding on a bike.
Stooping to being an ******* is no way to go through life.

So many peeves. After considering it all, I should have started a thread about all the things that went right today.

I know. For every positive thread on LCF, there's probably 10 negative ones. Oh well, it's always fun to gripe!

My complaint is separated bike lanes. “Why complain about separated bike lanes,” you may ask. I will tell you why.

They are little more than traffic law free zones. There are nearly as many wrong way riders of both bicycles and motorcycles, and wrong way drivers of autos and lorries, as there are people going the right way. Then there are the random walkers (because the sidewalks are nearly impossible to walk on due to the vendors, shops spreading on to them, people parking and, of course, careless drivers), vendors, and, I kid you not, farmers with grain spread across them that they are drying and beating. Oh, and the autos driving through perpendicular through road openings to get onto the afore mentioned sidewalk.

To make it worse, because these chaos lanes exist, bicyclists are required to use them and weave their way through the maze of parked vehicles and moving chaos.

You are required to use the bike lane even when it is blocked? That's horrible. Is this law usually broken or ignored?

In most places with mandatory use laws, there is an exception for blocked lanes.

Hmmm... I got to work on time, which is normal. I made a number of people smile at work. No flats or broken parts on the way to work or back home, and it's been years since my last on road flat.

Today's peeve - there was that one nice bike parking rack near the shopping center's entrance that was protected from rain. A month ago they moved it 20 meters out under the sky. As someone who's working in that shopping center I find it most inconvenient when you can expect rain in every afternoon (like now when I'm writing this). Of course, I continue to park under the roof, like some others do (using railings around roof supporting pillars as anchorpoints), but there's a flower shop right there that has a habit of moving their pots outside into the way. And I'm just too lazy to oil my chain and clean rust every evening. Riding in rain is one thing (just did it yesterday and it was fun), but letting my bike uselessly rot away in the elements is totally no-no for me.

Cyclists and drivers that don't have the right level of aggressiveness to communicate what they're doing. I see so many drivers who are communication paralyzed when they see a bicycle and that's how people get hurt.

Had a classic one today. Going through a crossroads (with my traffic light green) the guy coming the other way decided to turn right in front of me. When he finally saw me he blasted his horn as if I was doing something silly by going straight ahead with a green light.

So I waved at him, although may not have had all my fingers showing as I waved.

At least as someone who works there, you may have some capacity to figure out who "they" are, and try to get the situation corrected.

Trash day; with all of the trash cans lining the bike lane.

bike parking/racks - or lack thereof.
There's plenty downtown, however as you get away from the core of the city you're pretty much on your own.
I've locked up to trees, signage, railings..

It's a peeve because often I end up searching for a place to lock up, sometimes circling the place a couple times just to find something suitable. I do not like to lock up at handicap parking signage, but if it's all there is, then it's done. Trees are tricky, as a lot have a circumference to'large to lock up to. Again, it's not what I lock up to that's the peeve, it's the lack of something to lock up to.

multi-lane road, 1 car stops and waves me on, not noticing that a car is coming past him in the other lane (same direction) then can't understand why I won't go.

I thought of the same thing. This has happened to me a few times, both pedaling and driving. Walking too, come to think of it.

It reminds me of people who hold the door open for me when I'm 30 feet away--then I'm supposed to break into a trot so they don't have to hold it too long. Passive-aggressive, IMO.

I love it when drivers make such fools of themselves (unless the error appears fatal to me...). But when they start honking... I like to reach for my Air Zounds... I'm telling you, a good honk means you'll never have to use your middle finger again.
