SunXCD SXRD34M Rear Derailleur - thoughts?
I'm considering purchasing a SunXCD SXRD34M rear derailleur for a future build. It looks like a solid modern rando/touring/MTB rear derailleur.
Anybody have any experience/user feedback/thoughts on this one?

I stumbled upon this old post, and wanted to say this derailleur is by far the best operating, smoothest on any of my vintage (and kof) bikes I've built.
I was lucky to have the master Tim Neenan build a replacement for my stolen Sequoia a few years back - the SunXCD was the right pick for gears indeed! Few pics and build information HERE

The Sequoia looks lovely. I prefer the polished alloy look to the all black finishes that seem to be prevalent today. I also like triple cranks, and they are getting more difficult to find, or at lease the derailleurs and shifters are.
How have you found the rest of the Sun components?

SunXCD now seems to have faded out of availability - and I loved the look of those hubs (but think I read some mediocre reviews)
The Cranks are superb - I mount them with good ol TA Cyclotouriste rings - compact double. gear changers and cranks only parts of theirs I've tried... WISH i could find more around, ebay prices are stupid high.
thanks

They're hard to find, for sure – but you can find various SunXCD parts from:
Analog Cycles
SJS Cycles (UK)
VeloDuo (UK)
Grand Bois (JP)
That said, the RD is becoming increasingly rare.
You can also look for the Gevenalle Burd RD, which is effectively the same thing in black.
