Silver State 508!

Anyone here doing it? Has anyone done this in the past? I see there is one rider going fixed solo... there's another veteran I am watching as well. As I do longer and longer rides, I can see how this sport is addictive!

Looks so cool.... until my eyes glaze over at the rule list / application stuff / etc. Maybe that's why I'm a randonneur instead of an ultra-racer though!

Paging @jhaddad8..... Trans-Am fixed?

508 had problems with the Park Service-- maybe that's where the rules are from?

It's a wonderful sport when you can make up for a lack of ability with a lack of sleep

I once aspired to do events like that...fixed, and solo. My knees decided that I should try gears from time to time, and my family decided that maybe I cannot devote enough time to training.

Very cool stuff, though.

Yes, done it 3 times when it was held in CA. Ran thru Death Valley. Was named Furnace Creek 508 at the time.
It moved as CA no longer would permit thru park.

I did it many years ago as another poster had said when it ran thru Death Valley(2004) as a 2 man team. The climb up Townes Pass for the A rider was tough. The other thing I got cooked so bad in the desert h eat it hurt to just stand outside in the sun. I have never had that happen since.
