Out for the first distance ride of the season (we've had some early bad weather so far). 80km's up and down the Chilliwack River Valley. Partly I wanted to get out and ride and partly I'm trying some new clothes and gear I have gathered over the winter (like Knee warmers, bibs and a Carradice bag)

At the base of the valley it was the usual morning chilly but the sun was coming out so I expected good things (wasn't disappointed). At the top the scenery was unexpectedly different!

But I shared a sandwich with the Whiskey Jacks so it was all good

Anyone else out riding?

Living in SW FL we have riding year round. 101 miles yesterday, 101 miles last Tuesday, 151 miles last Saturday. Getting out down here is just another ride unlike your FANTASTIC early season exploratory journey with an added meet-n-greet.

I'm pretty sure the rides I want to do are still under ice, so I have been riding the trainer. But I am tempted to go out and climb some of the mountains to the west of here.

That looks like a nice ride, thanks for posting it.

It's a wonderful sport when you can make up for a lack of ability with a lack of sleep

Thanks guys. I tried two things different this winter to see if it would up my game this season. I lost about 20lb's so far (now my gut doesn't hit my knees when I'm in the areo's) and I spent some time in the gym spinning to try to increase my cadence. We'll see how it goes.
