I did my first century!

so as title says says it i did my first century, this happened last saturday. honestly did not know what a century ride was until i joined these forums about a year ago. have since been mostly inactive but bikeforums might be only people to understand my excitement.

It was on a to do list since i first realized what it was and although last winter i gained more weight than usual and have also been less active. i went for it last saturday. we had a long weekend here so i saw it as having an extra recovery day. ended up having to do it solo since buddy who i usually do these things with caught covid a few weeks ago and lung capacity is still not optimal.

i probably have record for slowest century ride recorded but i did do it. final number 178.4 km / 110.85 miles was just shy of 12 hours moving time and total time in general around 14.5 to 15 hours. i could very likely have shaved off about 30 ish minutes maybe more due to various reasons (could not find bikepath google was sending me to, various unnecessary delays cause i couldn't find something in back pack, should have probably started stretching before shoulders and neck started feeling sore, etc)

i would like to do one again and have learned some lessons from it all along with at least one bike change i'd like to do for my own comfort.

Congratulations!

I was thinking about riding a century today, but it's late afternoon and I haven't started yet. Not a good sign. It's such a nice day, though....

thanks for the messages

rhm first century would have technically been an overnight ride with buddy to another city but those plans got scrapped due to covid

atwl77 ride i just mentioned replying to rhm would have been 220km, will have to wait and see when it can be done

Wow great job man. I'm on my 3rd year of cycling and hoping to get to 100miles by next summer. Currently at 45-55mile ranges 2-3x per week. You sure are motivating me sir!

Congratulations, phile ! It's a great feeling when you've knocked down your first century, since they seem so imposing beforehand. Hope your buddy is starting to feel better.
