This is my new century bicycle. I call him The Blue Paisano and we've done two 200Ks together this year. Everything seems perfect except the San Marco Regal starts feeling kinda hard after 75

I have three bikes and they're all century bikes.
My Gunnar Sport is my main long ride bike. It's pretty new. I've had it for about five months now. In that time it's carried me on two 200k rides, a 300k (actually just shy of a double century) and a couple other centuries.

My Bianchi Volpe is my commuter. Most of my riding is on this bike. I converted it to a single speed last September. I've taken it on just one century since converting it to single speed, but it did a couple last year while it was still a geared bike.

My Mercier Kilo TT is my fixed gear bike. I picked it up on eBay in December. The Kilo did it's first century a couple weeks ago.

This is my baby. My one and only bike which forces me to do the OC- SD century with one gear. And I love every painful spin.
52/15 ratio.

The fact of the matter is, a fad is not a bad thing if it introduces you to something that is popular in the first place because it is incredibly likable. Of course the gearing isn't always practical, but it is personal preference as I am a low cadence spinner.
I am not being whinny, but am merely justifying my position as I too hate people who sag their pants.

Very nice bike, Charles. It's especially sweet when you build it yourself!

If I were in the running for another custom, Mr Lathe would be the man to go to. As it is, I have an Ahearne on the way. Do you do build single speeds as well?

I am sorry that you judge me so quickly by the fact that I ride fixed. It just so happens that I enjoy the ride very much and have found it much more pleasurable than a typical road bike. Besides, when I'm in the aerobars, i find I have much more control of my speed and bike. I use this bike both as my daily commuter and my race bike. 2 times a week I bike 34 miles round trip to school and carry a crap load of books on my back and I balance this with triathlon training where I use my same bike to race.

yes, that gearing is steep... but most entry tri course don't have a ton of climbing like a typical road race course (at least the ones that you spend time on the a-bars...)
a century fixed is a great thing. i spin far faster in a smaller gear - but to each his own.

I finished my first century yesterday but I never thought it would be on a fully loaded bike... In the end I managed to ride all the way home and that was 212,4 km. The picture is from yesterday:

Charles, I go to my flickr page, view the pic I want to show here in full size, right click to copy link location and put the link in the dialogue box that comes up for "insert image" in Bike Forums. I hope that helps cause I'd love to see Paisano larger. (BTW congrats on your recent 600K)
I just finished a 150 miler on one of Charles' bikes. Ride report and bike review here:

I have three bikes and they're all century bikes.
My Gunnar Sport is my main long ride bike. It's pretty new. I've had it for about five months now. In that time it's carried me on two 200k rides, a 300k (actually just shy of a double century) and a couple other centuries.

Any shop with a talented, experienced wheel builder can build what you seek and the end result will be a better wheel than Mavic, etc. could ever dream of producing.

My current century bike is a Trek Madone (5.2 Performance).

Hoping to get a Moots to replace the Madone sometime soon.
