Shingles/Chicken Pox & Training?
Has any one here ever had shingles and if so when did you return to long distance cycling? My dermatologist diagnosed me with shingles last week and although I feel o.k. I want to rest up before I start training again. At first I thought the bumps were poison ivy and they are not widespread-but he said it was shingles. Yikes! The doc did say I could resume riding whenever I felt like it but I want to be cautious and help speed recovery as much as I can. So far I have not ridden or worked out for 4 days...Any experiences or ideas would be Greatly Appreciated!

When I had the shingles I rested until the bumps went down and stopped being so itchy.
Any strenuous activity was unpleasant due to the sweat and heat just making the outbreak itchy and painful. YMMV.

Thanks WB-I only have a few small bumps on my forehead so it isn't as bad as what some folks go through- I have read and heard the pain/itching can be extremly bad. When you did get back on the bike did you have any general fatigue or muscular issues?
