I have a cyclocross frame that will accommodate 32s that I ride almost exclusively on the road; I typically use 25s, but I've used 28s. I really wish the 4 Seasons came in a 32, I'd put 'em on my touring bike.

Question: do the differences in 23/25/28 still matter if you're inflating all of them to 100 psi? In other words, is it the tire size, or the inflation level, that makes the difference in how a tire feels/performs?

Related: When I got my Trek 520, it came with 32c Bontrager tires that had a listed max inflation of 120 or something. ?? My old Conti Top Touring 32c tires had a max rating of like 80 or 75, I think. Don't you lose some of the "fat tire" benefits if you pump 'em up like racers? There's never a minimum psi listed, but I've never put more than 80 into the Bontragers, no problems so far.
i run my conti 28s @ 75 psi or so. 190 pounds of rider, dirt, junk, potholes. the work well.
i don't like the way they feel pumped above 85 psi.

I recently downsized from 42's to 37's on my CrossCheck. The ride just isn't the same.

I'm now running Pasela Panaracer 28's with Tour Guard on my commuter and Conti Gatorskin 23's on my recreational bike. I'd say I have about 300 miles on each since I switched them.

I'm very happy with both tires so far. I think the difference in speed between the two sizes is pretty negligible. I can barely tell the difference. Then again, I'm not very fast to begin with. Maybe it makes more of a difference to a stronger rider.

Another 28c, 4 Season Grand Prix rider, on a cross bike set up for road / touring use. I like the tires, so far they're pretty robust.

Oddly enough I haven't noticed a big difference between 25's and 28's, or between 23 and 25 on my road bike, at least as long as the PSI's are the same. Big difference when I use the 32c 85psi cross tires that came stock with the bike -- kind of mushy and bouncy IMO. Should be fine for winter use.

Anyone try the Rivendell Rolly Poly or Jack Browns?

Currently running Conti 4 Seasons 28C on my Marinoni and Panaracer Pasela TG 32C on my LHT. I run 37C Schwalbe Marathon Supreme in the winter on the LHT. They are also a nice tire.

I really dislike the Rolly Polly. Feels like riding through mud; a really dead, slow feeling. As far as I am concerned, the Grand Boise tires are the last word in wide clinchers.

I ran the lightweight Jack Browns on a couple of brevets earlier this year. I enjoyed the tires a lot. Only had one flat in probably 500 miles or so. I pulled them off in favor of good ole 32 Pasela folding TG. I just wanted a little extra flat protection for the longer rides. I can't say that I noticed THAT much of a difference, but I've been thinking of putting the Jack Browns back on just to see if my perspective has changed...

I have to admit I've been curious about the Grand Bois for some time. Does anyone know if the 30mm 700c Cypress tires will fit under 35mm SKS fenders?
