Nutritional Conundrum

So here's the deal. I've got a 400k brevet coming up in just over two weeks. Today my dentist installed a temporary crown on one of my teeth, and said "Don't eat anything sticky while you've got the temp on". The problem? Clif Shot Bloks are my main (only) on-the-bike "solid" food for brevets, etc. And I don't get my permanent crown until the week after the 400. And there really isn't time for the old trial and error to find a replacement food. Anybody got suggestions for something high-calorie, non-sticky and easy to digest?

TIA

Don't chew the Blox on the side where your temp is and you'll be fine. I had a temp on for almost a month while waiting for my "bling toof" (gold crowns are stronger than porcelain) and I just made sure to keep from chomping anything on the crown.

Not familiar with these (Clif Shot Bloks), but if they're small, the above advice works. I have nine crowns (inherited brittle teeth and a few bike accidents haven't helped). Have had a couple temps come off of molars and they did OK for a few days until the permanent was installed, but my molars haven't been particularly sensitive in that uncovered state. My biggest concern was always about swallowing the temp, and I'm not sure if my dentist would have wanted it back after that

Ensure ... or if you can get it, Ensure Plus. Drink one on your long ride this weekend to see how it sits with you.

This is one of the reasons I constantly encourage people to experiment with a variety of foods on their rides. Don't get locked into just one specific type of food. One day you might not be able to eat it. One day you might not be able to find it ... especially if you travel for your rides. One day your stomach might just tell you, "That's enough of that!"
