Or you can go with a powder made specifically to return your electrolites. I prefer Gu Brew in Orange flavor. 3 scoops in a 24oz bottle keeps me hydrated well in fairly hot days. Drink at least one bottle every hour to stay hydrated during the ride. If it's really hot I'll add Hammer Endurolyte to the mix. Two of them an hour along with the Gu Brew drink kept me hydrated very well during the Pan Mass Challenge last weekend. Day one 111 miles and day two 92 miles. No hydration problems using the above.

Make sure you eat properly as well. Water is only half of the equation.

Isn't that what forums are always about when it comes to something like nutrition ? People can only provide advice based on what works for them -- and that will always be contradictory. The only other approach would be to say "sorry, cannot provide advice, but good luck anyway". If this were a mechanical question, it might be different. Hopefully the reader(s) will take the advice in the sprit in which it is given, and find out for themselves what works. Research coupled with trial and error is the only way that I've found solutions.

Sounds like a tummy bug to me.
If it happens again look at changing something.
You shouldn't overanalyse things and mess with your routine based on one ride.

I usually try thing a few times before binning them.

That overhydration thing... really, a water bottle every 15min is just plain crazy.

You were likely suffering from dehydration well before the 90 mile mark. It would be interesting to know how much you went to the bathroom and if your urine was clear or dark yellow.

Drinking more water is probably close to 100% of what you need to do!

That's only one type of salt. This is not "well informed" advice.

I'd suggest doing something more balanced.

As you can see, this stuff is nothing but water and words. No electrolytes, just water and words. You'd be better off with Gatorade, which is also crap, but better than nothing.
Note that, for the entries in this kind of label, if the amount of the listed item is less than 1 gram (eg, 0.99g), the amount can be listed as 0 grams (0%)! You'd have to have more information before you decide something has "nothing" in it.

Ah, no (not necessarily). See above comment.

Note that, if you choose to use something other than water, you could dilute it (eg, to "half-strength").
