Brooks tension bolt
I had a B17 and the front bolt broke on me and I don't have any idea how. I was just going to lube the front bolt on my Swift and that bolt has a pretty good bend in it. I don't really think I'm that abusive and I take pretty good care of it, but for some reason this keeps happening. I bought a new B17 and I don't have any problem with it after 2000 miles. Anybody got an idea. I was told that if you lift the bike by the rear of the saddle it could cause this. I have the saddle on a 20# CF bike and I really don't think that would cause it. I have a Look bicycle with a Fizik Aliante on it and that bike has 3000 miles on it and it doesn't have a problem and it's treated the same as my other 2 bikes. Any hints. I think I'll post this in the touring forum as well, as they use the Brooks saddle a lot.

Last weekend I was adjusting the tension on the bolt and it broke at the nut. Seat may have 7500 miles on it? It doesn't appear that is was bending.

I did write to Brooks, but haven't heard anything yet. After having it happening this year and last, if they send me a new one I'll sell it. I really doubt if I hear from them though.
