IRE-mx5

I road 113 miles on Sunday for fallen police officers. The ride was really just a 65miler, but myself and a few friend tacked on the exta mileage just to get the ironman distance. That was by far, the most I'll ever ride. I felt great all day, with exception of a few miles when I was in a paceline that I had no business being in... 26mph, no thanks. It was hot as heck. I kept an eye on the fluids and popped a bunch of salt/electrolite pills that a budy had (they worked...I think) One thing I learned: YOU CANNOT SURVIVE ON CLIFFBARS ALONE. I surrived on fruit, and powerbars etc at the rest stops... but at mile 75, I felt the bonk coming. After a stop at Wawa for a turkey and cheese hoagie and Mountain Dew, I was 100%. I guess you need real food to sustain. 7.5 hours on the bike. Philly, to Atlantic City, to Burleigh, to Stone Harbor, to N.Wildwood. I'm pretty proud of that.
