So Happy!

So I just found out that the 37mm hammered aluminum fenders I just ordered from Velo Orange and the Rando rack that I also ordered from them, both on Monday, have been delivered. To top it off, the Boxy Rando Bag will be available tomorrow morning. Hope I can snag one in tan, the bike needs it. Then my Surly Pacer rando bike will be ready for some long distance riding. Yay!

i also ordered those same fenders this weekend, couldn't resist the 20% off. most likely won't be happy when i'm installing them. i plan on my happiness reaching a climax once they are installed and my bike is rolling.

I know I will not be happy installing them, so I'm going to take them to someone else so they can be unhappy installing them. But at least I'm willing to pay them for their unhappiness.

I've installed 3 or 4 sets of VO fenders now and the job has never made me unhappy. About on par with assembling an Ikea book case I'd say. The key is having the right tools for the job, a good hoppy frosty beverage, and take your time.

The last issue of Bicycle Quarterly had some great tips for installing aluminum fenders. Also check out this thread in the C&V forum for one of the best fender installation jobs I've ever seen and some of the tricks he used.

I don't have a workspace that's good for doing much of anything right now. I've installed fenders before, but I'd much prefer to do it in a warm area than in a cold garage. And a work stand would make it even better. The best news is I got my Rando bag too.

So here it is all set up and out for a shakedown this morning. I'd forgotten how nicely this bike rides.
