Anyone else doing the Seagull Century? This is my first time. Did the CBES Century last year and really looking forward to riding in the area again.

I'm passing again this year but it is both an enjoyable experience as well as scary. It's completely flat and the last rest stop has pie (cherry and apple) with ice cream. 6,000 riders makes for some crowds and unbelievable pace lines at 25 to close to 30 mph. The problem is lots of inexperienced people joining in and makes for some big crashes.

One year I saw someone on the side yell out to a friend riding by. The friend stopped suddenly and didn't know he was pulling a dozen people. Everyone ended in a pile up.

Too bad that ride is 3000 miles from home; would be great fun on a tandem.

My son and I plan on riding. Expect some wind. We like the ride to the beach. Lots of groups going fast, so keep an eye on the left lane.
