Resist Nomad Tires

There's a newish tire on the market; an interesting entry from an unlikely source - the BMX / Urban market - that may have unwittingly hit a sweet spot for randonneurs.

Tread design is a cross-hatch pattern, like Rivendell's Roll-y Pol-y or Jack Brown.

No reflective sidewall; they come in pure black or with a red sidewall (no word on other colors).

Comes in 700x35 and 700x45. Wire bead (but I've seen a pic online of it being folded - maybe that was of a concept tire).

I can't find any info on weight, tpi or puncture protection. They're marketed as 'light weight', so I'd have to assume there's not a puncture-resist layer

At a street price of $25 bucks each, I'm tempted to try them.

I've got an e-mail into Resist to try to fill in the missing info.

Response from Resist:

TPI: 30
PSI: 80 PSI
Bead Type: Steel Wire
Wall Colors: Red, Skin & Black Wall
Weight: 35C:397g 45C: 519g

No flat-resist technology, unless you consider the low TPI count.

I recently started using folding Vittoria Randonneur Hyper. 330 grams in a 700x32 size, 90 psi max, smooth road tread, 120 tpi, triple flat protection and all-weather compound.

Awesome tire. These are fast, supple and with a great ride quality. They perform like a 700x25 training (mid-grade) tire, but are more forgiving on bad pavement and can be used on dry gravel.

Edited the first post with Resist's response. TPI count seems very low; I'll not pretend to know all the implications of that.

TPI Threads per inch. The more TPI the less rubber gets between the threads. you get better ride quality but longevity suffers.
60 TPI more rubber in the threads longer life. I will try to find the article where i saw this

a friend of mine just ordered up some of these nomads. will report back once I get a chance to take them for a spin. I dont expect much from them due to the super low TPI, but you never know.
