MS Society Cape Cod Getaway 2012

I know I'm asking about 9 months in advance, but is/has anyone doing the MS ride? I'm curious to know what type of riders attend. Also, what type of bike would be best?

If it is anything like the MS150 ride here, any and all comers are welcome. You will see weekend warriors in matching race kit as well as families riding hybrids on the shorter routes. For some, this will be the majority of the milage that they get all summer. Riding fast in a paceline is fun, but it's more fun to ride a bit slower and strike up a conversation with other riders as you go by.

That's good to know, especiallly since I'm contemplating using my mountain bike with slicks. I will be doing the full 150 miles over two days.

I rode the CCG for the first time this past year. I've ridden the PMC ovet the last several years and decided to use the MS150 as a tune-up. First, the ride is actually a tad longer than 150 (by about 8 miles). Although you will see bikes of all types, I strongly reccomend a road bike. There are several hills along the route that may prove difficult, though not impossible, for one on a moutain bike. If you do go with the mountain bike, you may be better served swapping out your knobby tires for slicks.
The ride is a great event and a rewarding accomplishment. Good luck!
