Crush the Commonwealth 2012 results?
Haven't heard any ride reports from this year yet. Anyone do it?

I need to concentrate on being in shape earlier in the year so I can do this. There were no results last year until sometime in May

that would explain the lack of results. Still not in good enough shape to do it

My longest rides this year so far have been less than 4.5 hrs. I only have about 800 outdoor miles so far this season. I had a similar level of fitness and milage in me last year and finished very comfortably in 42 hrs. There's no time limit - unless you really want to compete, consider it a no time limit 600K - something you do for fun - not recognition. I suspect you'd do just fine. You might be kinda slow, like me, but you'd do ok. The only thing I am worried about is if we were to have fierce west winds both days. That could suck the fun out of it pretty quickly.

we were having winds out of the east earlier this year, but that pattern seems to have dissipated

definitely the harder direction this year.
kind of glad i missed it 2 years ago that year (this direction) they got crazy winds and weather. looks nicer weatherwise for this year but we could definitely see some headwinds.
steamer did we finish together last year? i also got in around just under 42 hours i believe.

By the way, did you see my left vs. right correction on the CTC blog regarding directions to off-route hotels in Somerset? I'd hate for you to aimlessly ride around Somerset at 3am due to my error.
Looks like we'll have more wind on Friday than Saturday, but there is a chance we'll get some rain on Saturday up in the highlands, and the temps up there on Saturday are low to mid 50's. Tolerable, for sure, but bring a rain jacket.

absolutely!!!!
yeah i couldn't have remembered a single name at that point at the end last year.
i would have figured it out somerset i am sure. by that point i don't think i'd head off in any unknown direction unless i double checked it with a local. thanks for the tips though! i never went off course in bedford so i am glad to know there is some stuff there open all night if we need it.
gonna try for fast and light this year. we'll see how that goes. it will be my first year doing it on a non-singlespeed bike so at least that should make life a little easier through the mountains.
so glad it is finally here. see you at the bell. i'll be on the white specialized roadbike with the white helmet if you wanna say hi. and who knows, maybe we'll end up riding in together again this year. your plan sounds pretty much exactly like my ideal one.
my thought is if we could somehow make it to the gravel by daybreak saturday it would be f-in sweet! i have dreams of eating beakfast in ohiopyle and totally crushing this be-yotch this year... no course record ambitions other than personal ones. i don't think i could touch the trexler's time, those guys were/are animals.
