Took a chance on this Cx saddle as I my current saddles all hurt after 18 hours on the road. This is a problem because I ride more than that enough to need something that doesn't become a torture rack. This one while hard (though I hate too much padding) is so well designed there is no squashing, numbness, sore tail bones or any of the odd symptoms I've run into over the years. Took it on a 100 mile ride last night and its... painless. A novel experience. Usually by that time the saddle is beginning to annoy me.

Looks like a good saddle. I took a look at the Specialized factory page and none of them look exactly like your photo. They call them MTB saddles. Which one is it? Or is it no longer made?

I work at a Specialized dealer, and that doesn't look like any of the Phenom saddles that I know; they are normally much flatter and marketed as MTB saddles.

If I were you, I'd look into getting a seatpost with more setback - it doesn't look like your saddle rails are fully supported with that setup and I'm sure that it's beyond the recommended clamp zone. That saddle's going to be a lot less comfortable when one of the rails breaks.

Bike is a tad small. Modded things a bit to get it into the scale. But I don't know how much more setback I can get away with. Never managed to break a rail on a saddle yet though and most bikes in Korea are too small for me. Also Asian model anything always seems to be different from western specced stuff, even for the same model.

I have broken seatposts and saddle rails. If you fracture a vertebrae from either failing, you will wish you had bought a proper seatpost with sufficient setback. You can get 25mm or more setback from a post. Might think about it.

My Specialized saddle fit the seat post just like that. Having such eccentric loading on the clamping mechanism made me nervous so I installed a different seat post with about 25mm of set back. The new seat post saved several ounces and looks much better.

Looks like this on on the Spez site:

Quote the site literature:
"Phenom Comp Gel
  • Gel padding added to lightweight PU foam for increased comfort over longer rides
  • Stiff, carbon-reinforced shell for longevity and all-day riding efficiency
  • Light and super durable hollow Cr-Mo rails"
