Haven't seen this posted anywhere....

Pippa Middleton is set to cycle 3,000 miles across the United States as part of the Race Across America challenge.
The Duchess of Cambridge's younger sister, 30, will be joined by a team including her brother James, 27, and six other individuals, in aid of the Michael Matthews Foundation, according to People.com.
The charity ride will kick off in Oceanside, California, on Saturday, with participants expected to arrive in Annapolis, Maryland, 12 days later.

Yup, looked her up on the RAAM site.
Hard to say what that amounts to for her personally. There's no rule that all riders have to ride equal amounts. If you want to be competitive, the tendency is to have faster riders do more of the riding. If she's not much of a cyclist and some of the others are, you can be sure she won't be spending a lot of time cranking into headwinds up a mountain.

Probably a "participation & completion" team who are primarily about raising money. At least that's my guess.
As far as Pippa herself being a rider goes, she's done some distance riding. Not particularly fast, but she did finish a few centuries. And she's riding on a 8-person team, so she'll have some recuperation time.
Just thought it might be of interest to someone reading the forum/following RAAM. Most people follow the solos or a particular team which has a rider they know personally - at least that's my perception.

In her now-cancelled column for the Daily Telegraph in January she discussed how clip-in shoes have the propensity to let one pedal faster.

I think this is great for RAAM, are you even required to show up at the start if you "ride" on a "team"?

Some nice pics of her.... equipment. And the bike (a rather expensive custom made bike) too.

Just checked, they're not leading the pack, but they're averaging 19.41 mph so far, so that's not exactly a bunch of couch potatoes out for a Sunday ride.

RAAM is a VERY expensive undertaking. Having the younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge (who will likely one day become the Queen of England) is a great strategic move by the team, as it will raise the team profile for potential sponsors as well as for potential donors to their charity. Plus she's wealthy enough to chip in for the massive costs.
Also, an aside: interesting this year to see how well the British have been doing, with a rider in 2nd place men's solo (Mark Pattinson) and in 3rd place women (Shusanah Pillinger) and 3rd place 2-man team. In addition to that 8-person Royal team!
