My experience with my LBS
Below is a copy of the email that I sent to my local bike shop (Bike Zone in Covington, LA) after my recent Electra Townie purchase. I received a reply from the owner a couple of days later and he was real appreciative and thanked me for the email. The guys he has working in the store are top notch and are willing to take their time with you even if you're not looking to buy the latest several thousand dollar carbon fiber road bike.
Most people tell everyone that they know when they receive crappy service but usually don't tell anyone when they get great service. I'm trying to tell anyone that will listen to me about how I was treated at Bike Zone. So here's the email that I sent:
Hello,
I just wanted to write a quick note about my experience recently at your shop. I purchased an Electra Townie back in July of 2015. Brad was very patient with me answering my questions about the bike and adjusting it for me to take it for a test ride. I decided to check out another local shop that also had the Electra bicycles in stock to see what other models they had available. After about ten minutes in their shop, it didn't matter what they had, their customer service was nonexistent. Not one employee approached and welcomed me, even though there was only one other customer there besides me. I quickly returned to Bike Zone and purchased the Townie along with some added accessories installed. Brad took care of me in no time and I was out riding the bike that same afternoon.
Unfortunately, my Townie only lasted until New Year's Eve. If fell off my trunk carrier while on the Causeway Bridge and was run over by two other vehicles.
This past Saturday, I returned to purchase a replacement Townie. John greeted me as soon as I walked through the door. I told him that I was interested in trying out a tall model of the Townie 7D that I saw on the website. He asked if I didn't mind waiting while he finished up with another customer's repair, which he did in a few minutes. The tall version of the Townie was not assembled and still in the box. John offered to assemble it and adjust everything while I waited so I could try it out. I really didn't expect this from him and was surprised to hear it.
After test riding it for about ten minutes, I decided to purchase it along with a rear rack and fenders installed on it. The exact fit fenders for the tall version were not in stock but John made the standard fenders fit and the finished install looked perfect.
Since getting the Townie home yesterday evening, I've already logged 20 miles on it and am looking forward to many more. I will definitely return to Bike Zone in the future for any upgrades or service that I may need. Each time I have been there has been a great experience.
Thanks for your time.
