wingless' 24 Ounce Polar Water Bottle
My bicycle usage includes bringing a wide mouth water bottle, filled w/ ice cubes, then topped off w/ chilled water.
When I used a single wall 22 ounce water bottle the ice had all melted in less than an hour.
My replacement selection was the Polar Water Bottle.
The seat-of-the-pants test is that the new Polar bottle maintains ice in the water for over two hours.
These are the weight measurements for the 24 Ounce water bottle:
The Lord Kelvin in me wants to put some measurement numbers to this 24 ounce insulated bottle versus my 22 ounce not insulated water bottle, so I ran some tests.
All of the test had these steps:
The measured data was not conclusive, was not consistent across the tests and did not show why the Polar bottle maintained ice while the not insulated bottle was melted.
This is a nice product, appears durable, appears well made and does a nice job keeping water cold for longer than a not insulated bottle.
This product was purchased by me using cash from my pocket. I have zero affiliation and zero agreement w/ the manufacturer or w/ the vendor.

- 24 Ounce Empty Water Bottle w/ Belt Loop - 148.6g
- 24 Ounce Empty Water Bottle w/o Belt Loop - 144.4g
- 24 Ounce Water Bottle w/o Belt Loop Full of Water - 837.3g

All of the test had these steps:
- Full Size Ice Cubes Filled Empty Water Bottle
- Thermocouple Probe Tip Set "In Center" of Bottle, About 1" Above Bottom
- Chilled Water Filled Bottle to Top
- The first test was outside, w/ a light breeze. The two bottles were stationary throughout the test.
- The second test was inside, w/ still air. The two bottles were stationary throughout the tests.
- The third test was also inside, w/ still air. The bottles were shaken prior to measuring the temperature.
The measured data was not conclusive, was not consistent across the tests and did not show why the Polar bottle maintained ice while the not insulated bottle was melted.

Try some electrolytes in your water bottles -- insulated non-insulated. My impression over the summer is the water stays cold longer.
I usually dump a packet of electrolyte powder into half a bottle of water, freeze it, then top up with tap water just before a ride. Even in summer heat the Polar insulated bottle stayed chilled for a couple of hours, and was still pleasantly cool to drink much longer than with plain water.
I switch between various electrolyte powders and didn't time the results to compare them: Propel by Gatorade, Emergen-C, DripDrop.

I just stop all over town and get more water, or pop, or whatever. But if you need to keep it cold and can't stop, this sounds like a good idea.
And hot water in a bottle tastes horrid! Been there.
