Bike Braking
I bike a lot with my friends and every time I brake, I have that annoying squealing sound coming from my brakes. To solve this problem, a few friends of mine and myself accepted the challenge to engineer a solution for school. If you could help us out by taking a quick survey it would be greatly appreciated. Cyber thumbs up to everyone that helps!

Due to forum rules, I must provide the following:
I am an engineering student at Arrowhead High School who is conducting a survey in hopes to gather information on peoples views of bike braking systems and squealing brakes. I plan to use these data to settle on a solution to pursue. The survey will be closed by December 23, 2014. Give a few days after the survey closes and the results will be posted as a reply under this thread.

You want to engineer a solution to a problem with well-known solutions, and that is occurring on only one bicycle? I'll tell you what - someone has already engineered something called Google. What you do is use what's called a keyboard to enter the following: squealing bike brakes.

The usual solution, that has been around for decades, is to toe in the pads. Rigid mounting points and stiff brake arms are also major contributors to quiet braking.

Moved from Bicycle Mechanics.
I guess I failed to clarify in my post in your other (now locked) thread in Mechanics that surveys go in the "Manufacturer, Retailer, Survey and Consumer Feedback" forum...
