People often talk about bike shops being snobby, etc. In my experience, there are two distinct types of bike shop snobbery. The sort typically complained about is that folks working at bike shops aren't interested in talking with customers who aren't already "bike people" and likewise are not interested in spending time with anyone who won't be buying a $3,000 or more bike. On the other hand, I have found that bike shops that cater directly to "non-bike" people tend to have a good reputation amongst these folks insofar as they explain, don't pressure, etc., but if they have to deal with a customer who seems to know as much as or even more than them about certain aspects of cycling, they get rather defensive and nasty. I'm not saying that one way is necessarily better than the other. Some even manage to work well with both bike and non-bike people. But, Lynskey isn't one of these. They seem to not like to be questioned by people who know what they are talking about.

Perhaps my "we have good customer service because we say so..." can also be phrased as "we have good customer service unless you aren't a push over..."

I'll assume you are being sarcastic, and thus that they've won you over with their salt of the earth charm.

Maybe it's time for everybody to chill out and let this one go to bed.
