I get that, totally. He comes from good stock and will succeed and you know I wish him the best. If the stars align he'll get a job in that field and the bloom will stay on the rose and he'll be happy in his work. But he might take an unrelated temp job somewhere and end up running or owning the company. Or end up working in his field and find out that the reality of the actual job might suck. Or that he wants to go help the poor in Burma.

You never know. Man plans, God laughs.

My family situation is simply different than many. I saw my parents, aside from college, basically every day until they died. At the very least we spoke. We built a business, worked together, and socialized. I was primary care giver to each of them as they began the process of dying.

My brother and I live a few miles from each other. Spawn and his cousin are best friends.

I have a similar relationship with spawn. There's little doubt that wherever he chooses to go to college I'll be leaving Jersey and moving a bit closer to where he goes.

He hasn't indicated that he's afraid of hard work based on this relationship. He pulls a full honors load, with a 90 something average and a few hours of homework a night. There's more than school in life, of course, but I'm fairly comfortable with how things are going for him.

Ain't that the truth. My whole life has been great entertainment for The Man.

What size is the P2?

You'll like TallWife when you meet her... she starts laughing at me long before God does.

My career certainly followed the currents to a far greater degree than I expected it to.

I'm baby sitting a two year during the woman's race tomorrow.

Racer Ex 05-04-13 04:52 PM

So last years team bibs were too tight. This year I ordered a size up, large instead of medium.

They are still too tight.

Because they sent me medium again.

It's the small stuff.

gsteinb 05-04-13 06:01 PM

I'd get you the right size shorts.

shovelhd 05-04-13 06:06 PM

No sh*t.

Cleave 05-04-13 07:28 PM

I would have never guessed that you wear large bibs from any manufacturer.

Cleave 05-04-13 07:39 PM

Over the past 14 days I've ridden all seven of my bikes at least once. Over the past seven days, the only bike I haven't ridden is the Bianchi Roger. Since May is National Bike Month, I need to keep this up. :)

LA face with an Oakland booty.

Anybody see the TTT in the Giro? TTTs are among my favourite events, they seem to blend the features of track and road racing in a way I find especially compelling.

Nice bit of news today. One of our youth riders won his RR at the junior Tour of the Isle of Man yesterday. Just missed podium on GC but currently top of the national rankings in his age group (under 14s).

Racer Ex 05-06-13 08:36 AM

Yin/Yang day yesterday. Good TTT practice and after had a nice breakfast with teammates. Got a text from one of my athletes that he cleaned everyone's clock at a state TT. Then came home to read the good, bad, and the ugly race reports.

Cleave 05-06-13 01:20 PM

I haven't been able to assemble a (slow) team for districts this year. Still some time but window for team practice is closing rapidly.

Ex, what age group is your team? I need to make sure my team, if it happens, is not in your age group. ;)

shovelhd 05-06-13 01:31 PM

Ex gets to terrorize you next year.

It's the climate.

Cleave 05-07-13 01:05 PM

180? Couldn't you find some younger fast guys for your team? ;) I need to find some really old guys like me to fill out this team since my teammate is "only" 51. Not that the 220 teams are especially slow either.

You definitely have your work cut out for you in that age group. I know you and your team can pull it off.

revchuck 05-08-13 03:18 AM

Got a flat yesterday. Bombing down a bridge at ~35 mph, I apparently ran over something horizontal that my front tire tipped up to vertical just in time for my rear tire to go over it. My second-ever pinch flat, and the first since I learned that I need to pump my tires up more than every so often. I made it through two good corners before I realized I had a flat. No damage to the tire, and I replaced the tube and continued with the workout. A pinch flat with 110 psi in the tire...whoda thunk it? I'm just grateful that it didn't lose air more quickly, could've been a short ride if it had!

Especially in TT's, Old does NOT equate to slow! And yes, really fast guys should have race with the kids... ;)
