Ok, so I've waited to post this news until I knew where I stood, which is actually not bad. Minor thing with an SUV Saturday morning. It went around me (green painted 'bike lane' in the middle of a narrow road) just before a small roundabout. I trusted the lack of signal, and slotted in behind the SUV, planning to go past as we exited the roundabout. It stopped, blocking the road curb-to-curb, for no apparent reason. Almost got myself stopped (locked both wheels), but not quite, clipped the bumper, and sadly put my hand out to take the fall. Broken radius. Driver didn't realize he had right of way, and stopped, in advance of where he needed to, to let other traffic in. The other drivers were asking "Why did you do that?!?". But, of course I should have left myself an out; just didn't realize the entire lane could be blocked. Dayam.

As Ex pointed out to me, one more visit to the ER and I get a free CAT scan. I'll stop after that.

Hey, I'm alive, I didn't re-injure the shoulder, and I can ride. Life remains good.

I'm glad about all that. But if I may lapse into uncharacteristic seriousness, I think you should give some thought to chilling out. Racing is intrinsically dangerous, but running into the back of a SUV on a training ride...? Take care of yourself, man...

I enjoyed racing with Herbie when he made his trip north. We ought to make a party out of it.

Good point.. but perhaps a shallow victory as I didn't do it this year (something conflicted with the first one and then I broke my bike just before the last one). I did still manage to slice my finger open putting a guys chain back on for him when he stuffed it at the corner I was working.

TT's are dangerous.

That is a nice venue. I would go up there again, but will need to do it from Tomball, Texas after May of next year.

Thinking about doing the Ft. Hood Challenge age-graded championship in M60+. I emailed the RD and he expects 40ish racers in 60+. It'd be the biggest field I've raced in of guys my age - that's the main attraction for me. I wouldn't be eligible for any prizes since I'm not from Texas, but that probably wouldn't be an issue anyway.

What's your coach say about doing that one? Get the thumbs up then have at it and good luck.

I pointed that out already to him. I got some story about "offseason". More like "transfer season". I'm guessing one of two teams that might match the colors.

So either he's going to be overpaid and underperform, or he was hired for his height to give the team some kind of visibility.

Movin and Groovin.

Closed on the new digs Friday. Last few days have been wrapped in cardboard and bubble wrap. Take out menus. Hand trucking. Mrs. Ex in Vegas at a big business event. Selling surplus goods on CL. Big donation to a local teachers group. When the body gives out I check in here or go fiddle with the home sound system.

Got the IPod to hook into it. Listening to Naughty By Nature's "OPP" which samples from The J5's "ABC". Which always makes me think of this:

I get the cast replaced Tuesday. Going with pink, in honor of Cleave, and a friend who has survived breast cancer.

It's a pita riding with it, and I haven't done much.

Heal up, then we hit the reset button.

Packed the trailer. Guys are coming tomorrow to load the truck. Sunday will be 8 hours up the Eastern Sierras.

Reading Hermes and AJ's reports has me itching for next year. Boxing up my closet realized this is the first year since 08 that I haven't won a state or nats jersey. Big Yellow Taxi sort of year.
