MEA, Racer Ex and I rode to the coast from Redwood City and back via Old La Honda, West Old La Honda and out 84 to the Pacific Ocean. It was another spectacular day of sunshine with temperatures in the 60s. The route took us over Skyline which crests at 1650 feet at the top of OLH. I have not been doing much climbing and most of my riding has been z2 so I suffered on the climb up OLH. After the steeper part of the descent, we did a team time trial to the coast which is about 10 miles. As one can imagine, it was pretty fast and polished off what was left of my legs although I did have to cycle back over Skyline. We stopped for a bite at the beach.

The way back is slightly up hill until we get to the base of Skyline and then it pitches up. I was okay until I really started to climb and then my legs dropped to Fred power. It was awful but I made it to the next point, ate something and my racer power returned (sort of) for the rest of the climb.

3:30, 3700 feet of climbing and 1780 kj.

13.6 miles at Z2 (or so) on the road this morning. It was nice to feel the road under me and not the trainer. 48 degrees, misty, dressed too warmly, but it felt really, really good to be out there (at 5:30 AM).

Yesterday I did the Bakery ride from Woodside. 48 miles and 5300'. I thought it'd be kind of a cruise but it was a hammer fest, especially the climb up Tunitas where I was being chased by a very good female ex-racer who runs the Tibco women's team. Today was 50 miles and 6700'. I was just out cruising and thought I'd ride from my house in the mountains, down into the valley, and back up a different route. It's nice up here, sunny and about 60, but it was so foggy in the valley that it was raining. Unfortunately I dressed for the weather I saw from home. So most of the ride I was freezing, and then I got tired and went slow. Now its time for a nap.

Rollers ride to burn off yesterday's beer. Just working to get used to the steadystate and HC while on rollers. Coming into my last week of off season, then the next cycle begins.

Data shows that I climbed 100" and also shows I rode across the pond.

I'm definitely a stage racer; I felt less sore on day three after a couple of good days of work. Had hoped to do some power work today and take Monday off but we got way laid by the 49er game. Maybe ride the fixed gear tomorrow.

22 windless degrees this morning in what will most likely be my last full commuting week for the season. Structured training starts soon. The full clothes load woke my legs up a bit.

I got up at 5:10, checked the weather and the outside air temp, got ready to don bike clothes, but then I remembered I should double check the TRS. "D". Oh. I follow the plan, so back to bed (for a half hour) I went....

Finished six straight days of mostly JRA (less the intervals at VSC on Tuesday). Saturday and Sunday were roughly 60 miles each. 25 of Saturday's miles were a shop ride at an average of 11 MPH. Let's just say it was a non-racing group.

Don't give me up!

Tomorrow is a group ride. The "social group". I still have no PT computer, and the cadence transmitter for my Garmin is on the Bianchi, so the Bianchi I will ride. The week's training on the TRS ended today, so I'll ad-lib on tomorrows ride. There will definitely be climbing, and a few sprints. Rain is supposed to come on Wednesday and stay through the weekend, so it looks like trainer time (yes, I AM a wimp)....

Rode the fixie this evening force 1:45 at a Z2/3 effort. I enjoyed the Christmas lights on some of the homes that were turned on.

46 minutes at recovery pace on the trainer last night. Last week was a new high for me - 251 miles, trying to keep ahead of Thanksgiving calories; I think I broke even. Rest day today.

Ex told me to go ahead and do the group ride today. I'm "fueling" for it right now. I checked Weathermeister just a few minutes ago and there is a "wind event" in the forecast, starting this morning. 25 - 30 knots with gusts to 50 knots along the coast and through the mountain passes. It's calm, or light, right now. Oh boy, wind training!

I did the ride. It was a good, solid, hard ride. That Bianchi is so comfortable! I don't hurt (other than lactic burn) anywhere, at all, not matter what, while I'm riding it, or after I get off of it. Hence, I can ride it harder and longer (and go faster and climb better) than I can my Look. That makes me a little sad, because I like my Look. But it doesn't fit! Arghhhh....

26 degrees on the commute this morning. The little bit of wet snow we got last night left some black ice on the roads. My rear wheel kicked out a few times. I had to stay on the left side of the white line most of the way. Legs felt terrible.
