Hermes theory of the conservation of weight. Weight is not created or destroyed. One man (or woman's) loss is another's gain.

I think you're on to something. I'll be looking for your dissertation!

My bathroom scale is apparently fubar. I was 141 before my ride this morning, and 139 when I got back from it. That's better!

I held out false hope that being on vacation for 17 days would provide a cure to my peanut butter addiction. Crap!, I'm back to tablespoon dips already.

I control mine by not buying the stuff.

From 145 to 144. That's square in the middle of the "post menopausal water weight" fluctuation - so it doesn't count.

I haven't posted here so I'll start now. 170.2 this morning. I was hovering in the 166-168 range a couple weeks ago. I started at 181 in March of this year. In 2010 I was in the 158 lbs range - that was the year I earned enough points to upgrade to 2. My goal for 2014 is to hit March at 160 lbs or less. For me weight trumps everything.

Ok, I'm going to confess that I'm 12# over my racing weight. T'day isn't the problem, it's the extended hiatus, after just coming back from a hiatus, and the associated lack of motivation to "eat to train". The psychological chain for me is that I need to race to be able to train, and I need to train to be able to eat clean. I've actually eaten french fries a few times in the last couple of months.. and quite a few handfuls for chocolate covered raisins.

Not much time left for base, and Ex isn't big on 5 hour fat burning rides anyway, so I'm going to have to either starve myself, or force myself into keto mode.

AzTR - 2407 kj today, about the same tomorrow, and both days this weekend. Part of me isn't looking forward to going back to intensity.

I've been advised I need to get lighter to be a better climber (or I'd better be a better climber than I am at this weight). 142 right now - my goal is 134 for April. I have to be careful that I don't burn off muscle. Yeah, I'm a woman who admits to her weight. Deal with it....

Let me know what you do and if it works. I'm in the same boat (except I just eat the chocolate without the raisins).

I've cut out starches, grains, and dairy (except an occasional greek yogurt); basically going Paleo for the last week or so, my the only carbs being in veggies, nuts and fruit.

Down to 195 from a 202 peak - 7 to go for racing weight, though I may take it down to 185, for a cushion, before I start needing more carbs for longer hard efforts.

"The Paleo Manifesto" by John Durant, gives a good overview of the Paleo lifestyle. A lot of us cyclists lean that direction, whether with a Paleo intent or not. I certainly have, gradually shifting more and more towards protein and veggies, avoiding grains and starches, and limiting dairy. So I joined a Meetup group to learn more about it... interesting stuff.

In my quest to get to racing weight before the season starts, I lost several pounds very quickly, leveled out, and eased back up a bit... all while eating consistently. Whittling off the few pounds just above 'ideal' was tough the first time I did it as well. And this is a rest/test week.

I am 6' 2" 195. That is down from 255 pounds in 18 months. That weight loss came from a combination of eating healthier foods and riding my over 2500 miles during that time frame.

Good stuff, AzT!

I need protein. An egg or some other form, without it I can't develop the kind of energy I need to.

I do need to cut out dairy, even the 2% milk I use in cereal and oatmeal. Yogurt can stay.

My race race weight is five to seven pounds less than I am right now, and I'm talking about mean weight, because I can yo-yo over three pounds in either direction from that in the matter of a day or two. I've got to get moving on it!

169.8 this AM. This is a perfect weight for me. Now I just need to lean out a bit but hold the weight. Maybe I should start eating Spanish, Mexican and Chinese beef.
