@shovelhd, great photo! Steep uphill finish with a 19 rear cog? Perfect! You look like a climber in that photo.

I don't have any idea who this lunker is riding this bike. They say it's me, but I don't buy it. I thought I was pretty svelt, as I am at a consistent weight that's lighter than I have been in years. I also don't remember what I find so amusing, unless it was the fact that I was on the second half, and the wind was less, at least for a little bit. Of course, when you're as big as a house, every ride has a headwind.
The pic is by Shawn Curry, who rocks. He came to visit me in the hospital when I hit the deck, and I thought that was 5 stars. I don't remember seeing him there, but it sure looks like I'm looking right at him.

Nice shot LAJ. I always rely on pictures of myself because I do not trust mirrors.

Mighty. I'll roll with that.
That must be my white noise face.
@rapwithtom was instrumental in the design and implementation of those kits, and was a job very well done. If you have a chance to wear Cuore stuff, do it.

Some Photos from the Chico Stage Race. First two from SacPhoto, second two from Craig Huffman.

Chasing the escapee over the top at Thunderhill...

Trying to break down the field through the gravel during the Paskenta road race. Eventual GC winner and multi time Nats champ on my wheel.

Looking good @LAJ. Your photo and results make me think that I'm probably trying to get too low on my TT bike. Now where did I put that spacer kit?
@Racer Ex, doesn't look like you're missing too much right now. Nice to see you're still in that kit. SS's company is doing soils engineering for our new house.

I find the statement "multi time Nats champ on my wheel" odd coming from a guy who claims to have a draw full of jerseys. Are you not supposed to be leading? It seems like a draw full trumps multi.

He should be leading. He's got more variegated jerseys than I do. And he's bigger. Ruins the symmetry. Larry fixed that a few minutes later.

Back to aerodynamics and low positions...a lower position that is optimized for CdA is harder to make power and see up the road. It requires a lot of strength and adaptation plus TT time in the saddle. However, once one does the required work to produce the power in the optimized position, the lower CdA always pays dividends even if the power is lower due to many factors. It really pays dividends on windy days and tougher conditions.
Having said that, small changes in position can result in more power with little impact to CdA so experimentation and testing is always a good idea.
