Greenbrier Trail W Va
Anyone have any thoughts on the Greenbrier trail? Flat or hilly, paved or crushed stone? Scenic or boring?

Uh...It's a rail-trail.
And no, it's not paved.
Here is one web site with information:

And another:

There was some trail damage a few years ago due to flooding, but it has been repaired.
And no, it's not paved.

ItsGreat
Campsites every 10 miles or so. 4 lean to shelters and pit toilets. Bald eagle sightings. No cellphone reception.
Its a great place to ride and camp.

There is also the Great Allegheny Passage, which I did again last month.

@indyfabz: Did you encounter any trail related issues on the GAP? I'm heading up there this month so anything I should look out for would be useful info. I'm interested in any emergent conditions/detours/etc. that may have popped up just recently.
Thanks
Thanks
If you are going to camp, I highly recommend the new place in W. Newton:

Also, if you camp in Connellsville at the park with the Adirondack shelters you can buy a shower from the recently constructed Cobblestone Inn. It's located along the trail maybe not even a half mile south of the park. $10 gets you a shower, washcloth, soap and those little bottles of shampoo and conditioner. And they let you bring your bike inside the lobby if you want to ride there.

I rode the GAP this past weekend with my son, and we encountered no problems, no detours, perfect conditions. It is a spectacular trail.

A beautiful trail. As previously noted, while it's rail-to-trail, if you deviate anywhere off of the trail it's very hilly. From Lewisburg to the trailhead, there's a good two mile (paved) drop. Marlinton is a nice town to stay in about two-thirds of the way from Lewisburg to Cass. In Cass, be sure the check out the railyard and the old sawmill by the river. And at that point, you're about six road miles of climbing away from Snowshoe ski resort if you like. We stayed in Marlinton day 1, day 2 rode to Cass and back, and day 3 back to Lewisburg. Next time, we're going to spend an extra day and take a shuttle from Marlinton to Cass and rent canoes/kayaks and paddle back to Marlinton.
