Gwynns Falls Trail

I am posting this to have a thread dedicated to this trail. It currently has a detour due to the Edmondson Ave bridge project. I will post a link to the detour map and a link to the GFT with maps.
Currently the trail has a lot of leaves covering it so ride with caution, wet leaves can be slippery and hide cracks and bumps. We have been updating the bike blazes to assist in navigating the route. The detour uses yellow and black painted detour blazes and the rest of the trail uses green and white. It is a great way to ride into Baltimore

The HTTPS version of that site doesn't seem to work, but HTTP does.

I haven't done that trail in years, it was always fun to take people on there and show them Baltimore. That and the Tour Dem Parks fund raising ride which would spend some time on the Gwynns Fall trail. I'd drive up with my wife and her friends, we would do that ride and then I would bike home from the start - I think it was Carroll Park the last time I did the ride.

I don't think yours is working either. Mine worked yesterday but not today????

A Hidden Gem For Sure

Haven't ridden on the trail in years, but it's definitely one of my favorites. Hadn't realizable the bridge construction had created a detour. But that makes sense. Glad to see there's a thread here for it. Amazing how underutilized in general it is.

Looking forward to getting back out there and on it real soon.

Just tried it again. Here's the error message. Might want to pass along to the site admin. Looks like a script error of some sort.

I will send to my son, computer guy and the site owner. I know the advocacy group and will relay your info. If you google GFT the first few sites open easily. Very nice maps. Thanks for relaying this problem.

jpescatore 02-17-21 07:10 AM

Same error here on those links.

Indeed, getting there via Google was successful. Nice work your sons doing with this site. Strange with the link error.

Haven't been as active on the trail recently, but for years I was all over it on foot and by bike, been on there at one point or another every hour day or night.

Hey all, jpescatore was right but his link failed .My son said it was the http vs https. He sent this link hope it works.
http://gwynnsfallstrail.org/images/p...TMapForWeb.pdf

It failed via BFnet!! I 'copied' and dropped. This time I cut and pasted his message below, maybe this will work, argh!!!

It is the http vs https. All the links you send had the s. Which stands for secure and uses a different door than http.

http://gwynnsfallstrail.org/images/p...TMapForWeb.pdf works

https://www.gwynnsfallstrail.org/ima...TMapForWeb.pdf with the s doesn't

Best,

balto charlie 02-17-21 06:36 PM

It works, but I'm still confused.

Very strange, I tried it after I posted and it went right to the site. The link in my email from my son worked and still works. I tried my post and it once again failed. I wish I was better with computers

Gwynns Falls Trail - Trail Information

Try this link. It works for me. I added the link using the paper clip icon in the row of icons above the text field, if that helps.

Son here - just an FYI this forum converts all http to https links on the published version. Interestingly enough, if you click the links during replying and before submitting a message. You can just remove the https when copy and pasting or do the reply workaround.

I was going to add some links for testing but they have a containment score on my account. Not a trusted user until 10 posts in. Clearly, they have some good security measures added.

Happy biking!

Aha OK. All makes perfect sense now. Thanks for taking the time to explain.

Re: security, not only can you not share a link or pics until you have 10 posts in, initially you can't post more than 5 times I'm 24 hours. All combined it's definitely a great way to keep spam down and help ensure a community of genuine users.

Thanks Son:) I guess the GFT website could change their link and BF.net would accept.
later,
dad
