Wheeling Heritage Trail
Has anyone here ridden the WHT? I'm looking for feedback about it, good or bad. It looks like it runs almost 19 miles and hugs the Ohio River the entire time. Could be a nice day trip for me.

Haven't ridden it, but walked the downtown section in June 2020. It was a really hot day and my only recollection was there was precious little shade. Oh, and on a Sunday, there were very few places open to get a bite or drink in Wheeling. Having said all that, it could be a nice ride in the fall in cooler weather. The downtown section was smooth and easy walking.

thanks! I kinda figured services would be scant along the ride, but I hadn’t considered the lack of shade. Luckily, the temps are starting to dip, so it may be a good time to check it out.

Agreed. This time of the year opens up ride opportunities I would normally pass on during the height of the summer. If you ride the Wheeling trail, post your thoughts and experiences!
