Looking for the perfect bike

I am turning 70 this month and need a new bike as my Trek 7500 is now too big for my 5"2: height & a little heavy to lift. . I need a lighter highbred to cruise around New York City. My top distance is 20 miles a day.
Any suggestions for me to look at?
Thanks
Stella

How much do you want to spend? New, or used? Do you know how to navigate the used market if you would rather buy used?

Otherwise.......

Go to as many local LBS as possible. Look at bikes in person. And ask questions. If you aren't getting the treatment you like go to another shop.

I really like REI and there is a big store in Soho. But check other shops.
