NCR Trail Traffic

There are so many more people on this trail than there were 14 years ago. I have been walking, and biking the trail ever since it opened, but can go a few years without being on it. I had not been on it for 10 years and was amazed at how many are on the trail.

I start usually at Lower Glencoe. Even going up to the line it's sort of amazing.

And so many road bikes. The trail was much more gravily once upon a time.

Since I have had access to a car in the last year I have gone up there recently. Don't live but a couple miles from the trail, but without a car I don't trust biking to it, and the trail is way to busy at the beginning.

Traffic on just about every hiking and biking trail ramped up during the 2020 and even after partial return to "normal" still seems like more people out hiking and biking.

I've been doing the NCRR since it first opened and the 15 miles or so centered on Monkton have always been pretty busy on weekends, especially since they built that large parking lot on Paper Mill Road.

I just did a ride going north from Bentley Springs and the same is true for the 10 miles or so centered on Glen Rock PA. Bentley Springs is an hour's drive for me but I really like starting their and heading north.

In between those sections, usually pretty serene!

You think it's crowded now? In the off season? You should have seen it during summer!

I hate summer so you wouldn't see me there. (It's 90 Degrees lets go sweat our asses off in high heat and humidity on a bike ride isn't my thing)

I can understand pandemic cabin fever, but that trail is waaay more crowded to be just pandemic traffic oriented. To many people!

And so much of the trail is flat. People riding the hell out of it.......

Yep, two days ago more walkers than bikers. Way to many on there.

I may go there tomorrow. Hopefully with it being cooler than the last few days it may thin things out a bit. The more casual types may choose to go to the mall instead or something like that.
