Anyone located around the sw corner of our state? I'm primarily a commuter, do some mtb around Ohiopyle and climbing of the backroads of the Laurel Mts.

Waynesboro here. PM me if you're looking for a riding partner. I like to do 20-40 mile rides.

too much bump? then knobbies are required!
here in media/upper providence...looking for great mtb trails in the 25 mile radius...esp. the ORANGE TRAIL (wissahickon?). where exactly is it? google isn't quite helping... |
Wow no responses in a while. C'mon, PA!
Coatesville at present, originally from the 'burbs of Reading. |
Doylestown right here!
|
North Warren, PA here. Waiting for some nice weather.

Anyone else commute today? It was a strange feeling riding next to a wall of snow on some of the backroads I take (like Old Kennett Pike).
31 miles on studded tires has me pooped tonight. |
^^^ I try to commute on mondays but I don't have studded tires or even a mountain bike. Waiting for better weather. Not happening any time soon.
I don't mind the cold, and even did 40 miles on January 3rd (remember the super cold super windy sunday after new years??) but with skinny road tires I draw the line at icy/snowy roads. I am off to the basement to ride the rollers... |
Being the idiot that I can be sometimes, I actually started out on my road bike this morning based on the fact that the arterial right outside our neighborhood was completely cleared. I wind up walking my bike out of the neighborhood due to all of the ice. I get about 0.75 miles down the road and go to make a left and realize that this other major road still has significant snow on it. There's no way the backroads I'll eventually be on will be anywhere near clear (and they didn't disappoint). I turned around to head back home, walked back to my house from the neighborhood entrance, swapped my lights over to my snow bike (rigid MTB with studded tires), and rode to work. What do they say about hindsight?

So much for my usual 50 mile wednesday club ride from West Chester...enough with the snow already!

Good to see another SWPA on the boards! |
New to forum, here in Ligonier. I know where Bear Rocks is.
Got out on the roads (such as they are) after busting ice dams on my roof. I didn't miss my trainer or my basement... |
Been out for a couple of short rides in and around Emmaus. Mostly 3 or 4 miles to the post office & back. Everytime I think it's too cold or too nasty out to ride I'm reminded of the 2 Amish girls that I pass every morning, regardless of the weather, riding along US 222 on my way to work just outside of Kutztown. Then I feel like a wimp......

Hanover, PA checking in! Looking forward to getting back out there and riding!
|
Wynnewood, PA checking in. This rain is killing me after last week's good weather.
Lately, I've been riding on the SRT and into Valley Forge, starting from the IKEA parking lot. |
How is the SRT from the IKEA lot west? I've never gotten around to taking a ride on it yet.
|
Hey everyone, Philly via New Jersey (Lakewood/Toms River/Seaside). And just for the record, I disregarded to wipe my feet on my way in.
I commute and ride for fun, usually in the 20-40 mile range. Looking to stretch out some 1/2 and full centuries this year. I was toying of doing a ride out to Allentown to check out Fegley's BrewWorks, maybe starting from around the Colmar R5 stop. Should work out to ~80 miles round trip. Anyone with any insight on the roads around there, bike safe routes, road conditions, etc. or anyone that would like to join, feel free to hit me up! BBM PIN 308EF4BA for any BlackBerry geeks out there. |

It's a pretty flat ride that gets pretty windy in some points (usually headed towards VF), but fun when you're out of shape like me from the winter and rebuilding stamina. Besides, how can you go wrong with an out-and-back that ends with swedish meatballs and mashed potatoes? :) |

The section of trail (Cross County, I think) headed to the SRT itself is a bit rough in spots, between the weather and the 476 construction, but that's a pretty short section and they seem to be cleaning it up. Two weeks ago there was a giant tree across the trail, today it was cut up and pushed to the side.

It still dead-ends at Germantown Pike, correct?

There does seem to be some effort to expand it at both ends, according to http://www.schuylkillrivertrail.com/ .
I especially like how they put Yuengling Brewery as a landmark on the last stretch, as if the trail will inevitably make its way there. :) |
Hi everyone.
Anyone near Williamsport Area? A few of us here at Penn College have been doing a ton of biking if anyone wants to join up you can.
