First race rant
... don't waste your time or money. I did not rece it because Hel got off work late last night so we left this am and do to traffic arrived to late to register. Good thing. The course sucks, for the 50 bucks to enter, the drive is a ***** and there is a very small field.
All they do is take the XC course, cut in in half and shuttle the riders to the top. Then it is a 7 min run on dusty flat single track. the most technical portion is at the end where there are some woops, if you can call them that, more like small speed bumps. There was a 15mph head wind with gusts up to 30mph and on a flat course that requires a lot of pedaling really sucks.
If there is one race in the CA series to miss this would be the one.
The most exciting part, one of the riders had is fork literally fall apart. The sliders fell away from the stantions and he had a huge yard sale. Knocked him self unconcious, and destroyed his face. He was wearing a DJ helmet. When they brought him down the hill they had his faced wraped up like a mummy and a brace on his chin. I do not know exactly how bad off he is but it aint lookin' good. One more reason not to use a Manitou
So it looks as though Sea otter will be my first race of the year then the national race at BB.
