For cross-country mountain bike racers, the Stage Race & Omnium formats return with some changes. The order of events will change with the Subaru Cup Cross-Country on Saturday afternoon, the Outback Super D/Time Trial on Sunday morning and the Impreza Short Track* on Sunday afternoon. Although competitors may enter any or all the events, those that usually only enter the cross-country will want to expand their horizons by giving the Outback Super D / Time Trial and Impreza Short Track* a try (*not available to Citizen or USA Cycling Beginner racers). The exhilarating Outback Super D / Time Trial emphasizes technique over endurance as racers throw down their best on a course that is 70% gravity assisted with race times for the fastest at less than fifteen minutes. USA Cycling Mountain Pros, Semi-Pros and Experts will be racing for a combined purse of $5000 with payouts for each event and the overall for the Subaru Cup Stage Race. They will also be racing for points as this will be a level three event on the newly introduced USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Race Calendar.
Gravity riders will want to plan on two days of great riding and competition with the feature event being Sunday’s Nordic Mountain Downhill. Downhill practice is planned for both Saturday and Sunday with the race being the finale to a weekend of great riding. Both practice and the race will be supported with lift service. Andy Fisher and crew have earned a reputation for coming up with a fun, challenging and safe course for this event to make it Wisconsin’s premier downhill mountain bike race. We are pleased to announce the return of dual slalom competition to the Subaru Cup. The new StoneRidge Dual Slalom presented by Gary Fisher Bikes will held in the late afternoon and early evening on Saturday. This event will feature a competitor thrilling, spectator-friendly course on the Nordic Mountain tubing hill with big rollers, banked turns, and several small drops. There may even be grudge races. How about the message board yahoos battling for bragging rights? Keep checking back for details as we are able to finalize them.
The Subaru Cup Cross-Country and the Nordic Mountain Downhill segments of the Subaru Cup have also once again been selected to the AMBC (American Mountain Bike Challenge) calendar, affording those competing in them an opportunity to qualify for the 2008 USA Cycling National MTB Championships in Mount Snow, Vermont.
Along with all the great competition, the Subaru Cup will also provide a fantastic weekend of outdoor fun with plenty of on-site camping, entertainment, food, manufacturers expo with bike demos, a bonfire and, for those of you into “night games”, WORS, NiteRider and Team Muddy Cup will again partner up to present the NiteRider Poker Run. Also new for this year is a team tent area adjacent to the cross-country course.
Whether you elect to compete or not, make sure you don’t miss this event, as with its Consumer Expo and all the great spectating opportunities, there will be a full weekend of mountain bike fun. All those driving a Subaru to this event will be treated to “Upfront Parking” adjacent to the Expo area. Mark your calendars and set your training to peak for this weekend! Please visit this website for more information as additional details of this event become available.

Probably. I might move up to sport so I can race short track. 55$ for the whole series isn't too bad. And its only 45 mins from my house.
