road riding for XC racing
I was at the Sea Otter Classic and was talking to Tinker Juarez when I asked him about his training. He said he rides road 6 days a week for volume and one day a week on dirt. Any other XC racers out there who do this?

I am not one but I know lots. Roland Green does for example. You get that perfect spin feeling and cardio build up which relates directly to xc racing.

I do most of my training on the road(80 > 90%) I race master 40+ expert XC we had a
10 race season up here including a 3 stage GC race I also did 2 Canada cups for a total of 14 days of racing this year. Other than race course pre rides I only did about 5 or 6 days of off road training,I totalled about 8000 km of road training this year.
I just find that longer days on the road are more benificial for me.
Luckily I have fairly good handling skills so the lack of off road miles hasn't bit me YET.
