Ok, this will probably sound really stupid. But today I watched mountain biking competition on TV and I'm hooked. I really wanna look into this! I just wondered if you guys would have any tips for me to get started and where I should look for info and such. Thanks in advance!

2 questions:

Where are you from
Whattype of racing do you want to do ( X-country, Dual slalom, downhill etc...)?

A few sites that might be able to help you out:
Active.com
www.usacycling.org/mtb

Talk to people at your LBS about races near you, usually they can point you in the right direction.

What was the race you watched????

Was it a long course with skinny guys doing a lot of climbing and riding in groups?

Or was it a single guy on a timed course with a full faced helmet riding down going over jumps and around bermed corners?

Or was two racers side by side on seperate courses with berms and jumps?

Or was it four(4) racers on a downhill course with berms and jumps?

That'll help us steer you in the right direction.
