Does the US have much for national racing series for cross country mountain biking? I live in Minnesota and have heard about and am going to the Subaru Cup this year. I can only imagine there's many more races like this across the U.S.

I would love to see one come back to Minnesota sometime in the near future.

There is no national series for mountain bike racing any more - - no equivalent of the old NORBA NCS. What there are left are regional series, such as the Mountain States Cup, Wild Rockies Series and Indie Series out West. Plus, there are probably more in the Midwest and East Coast that I am not aware of. You just kinda have to poke around and research some to find out what's out there.

Any word on if there will be one anytime in the near future? Something like the USGP of Cyclocross?

Don't expect it in this era of USA Cycling running the sport into the ground. The gravity end is doing its best to press on despite USAC's mishandling: There is both the ProGRT (a "national" series that is an amalgamation of events put on by individual promoters) and the new, competing USGP of Mountain Biking started by Dylan Dean (who used to head up the ProGRT but had a parting of ways with USAC). This confused the issue, since some ProGRT and USGP races were the same event and some have been different events/venues. It's kind of a mess but should get sorted out in another year or two.
