Riding the Backbone Trail (Santa Monica Mountains)

Hello all,

I'm writing to get info on riding this trail. I guess this is referred as the Backbone trail. To tell you the truth, I haven't really searched high and low for all the info on this trail, so I haven't found the info I'm looking for. I'm looking to do the whole 60+ miles of the trail and what would really limit me would be water sources. The link that I provided gives really no info on water sources.

Anyone ride this trail before? Any water sources? I'm looking to do the whole trail and camping wherever I can. I know this is probably not recommended, but it would be where I don't leave any evidence of doing so. My big thing is having water.

Any help or any sources for tracking down info for peeps that have done this before?

I've only ridden sections of the trail. I know that it runs through some state parks. In there you may find some drinking fountains.

You should try the MTBR So Cal forum. There are plenty of riders in there that have some pretty good experience with that trail.

Thank you for the suggestion I <3 Robots. I was wondering if I came to the right forum or not. BTW, I'm just really not finding anything online. The guides just assume you're starting and ending at the same point.
