looking for info on 2008 or 2009 Trek 4500

I am looking for a crankset for a used trek 4500. I got the bike with no crank.

Trek says it came with the shimano fc-m341 crankset. Being that i cant seem to find that anywhere in the free world......would it be almost the same as the m361? I am wondering if the m361 would be a good replacement or if it is more of hybrid crank?... If there is a difference. They look identical when i google pictures of them. Perhaps the 341 is a shimano/trek specific part number? I cant find much of anything on the 341 but the 361 seems to be all over the web.

anyone know the difference between the 2 or are they the same? Maybe i should be looking at a different crankset. The 361 can be had online for around $45 which seems like a fair price.

That's a old model crankset that isn't made anymore.

would it be almost the same as the m361?
Yes.

I am wondering if the m361 would be a good replacement or if it is more of hybrid crank?
It's certainly not a upgrade, it's just a newer version of a old low end crankset.
A certain model crankset might be available with different size chainrings.
42-32-22 would be more like something that you'd use on a mtb.
48-38-28 would be more like something that you'd use on a hybrid.

Perhaps the 341 is a shimano/trek specific part number?
Nope, it's just old.

The 361 can be had online for around $45 which seems like a fair price.
Look around, you might be able to find one for around $30

* Your bottom bracket will need square tapered to be to fit that crankset.
