Just wondered what the average age of everyone is who is just getting back into biking. Is there a certain i'm too old to be biking age?

im barely getting into the sport and im only 18 but i have to agree with everyone here theres never a too old age to do it (of course if u r physically able to)
its better to regret something you've done then asking yourself what if (withing legal parameters ;) ) |
I raced BMX until I was 10, then took a while off, just riding recreationally and to school and back. Then I went to college, and didn't ride at all. Now I'm in law school, and I've been back to riding (road) for a year. I'm 26 now, and about to buy a MTB.
I've seen a lot of "old" guys (40s and 50s, not really that old), roadies and MTBers alike, in the past year or so. Don't worry about your age, just worry about how much time you have to ride. If you think about it, the older you are, the more you should ride, because you're closer to the "big ride in the sky" than the rest of us. Well, probably closer. $hit does happen. |
Well I am liking what I am seeing. Not feeling too bad now to be 30 and jumping back into it. Im so looking forward to getting my new bike :)

Heck, I'm 32 and starting riding regulary 2 years ago. I ride XC trails here in the AZ area, in the middle of summer! Never too old if you've got the ability and drive.

I'm 38 now, 2 months back into MTB'ing after an 11-year haitus (got married & had a kid).
The hardest part was reacquiring bike-butt - the first two weeks it felt like I was being regularly whacked in the ass with a cat-o-nine-tails. The best part is the Tuesday rides with my son - did his first clean creek crossing yesterday... I'm parked on the far bank yelling "Push! Push! Push!" High fives as he powered up the bank, grinning like a possum. tdh |
33, I haven't ridden a bike in 3 - 4 years. I just got my new bike two weeks ago.

I'm 41 and just bought a new bike and got back into it this year. I raced BMX as a kid (it was different back then!), and got into Mountain Biking pretty heavily late 80's and early 90's. I moved to TN and hadn't ridden since. I've got a grin on my face and one sore @$$!

I used to regularly ride with a guy who started riding again after his heart attack and subsequent open heart surgery with a quadruple bypass. He was 62, and started just riding a cruiser around his neighborhood for recovery. His rides got longer and longer. He was a snow skier and one of these guys that was always athletic, so after a little while, he bought a mountain bike.
After about a year he was crushing us on the climbs and keeping us with us "young punks" (I'm 35) as he would call us on the descents. He's now 67 and rides 4 or 5 times a week. |
a good friend of mine just got into mtbiking (dh mostly) at the age of 29. two years later he just built up a hardtail and has just started Djing at our dirt trails

32, rediscovering how much fun it is to just be outside. To paraphrase a muppet, if you can, do.

I've always had bikes, but I was already 37 before I really took riding seriously. At 38 i'm enjoying it more than ever, and i'm also training for my first triathlon. Never let age stop you from adventures, getting old is all in the head ....... well, maybe in a few of our joints too?
|
I'm 34 and just bought my first bike in 17 years last week! Most of my friends are in thier early 30's and just started riding a couple of years ago. Also just talked another friend of mine into getting a new bike and he'll be 38 this year . . . . . never too late to start riding.

I'm 26 and just got back into biking after 13yrs away. I love MTB wish I would've known about it when I was 13.
|
I just turned 40 and am back on a mountain bike for the first time in 10 years. I raced MTB's for a while, then switched to triathlons and then switched to getting fat.
It's good to be back. |
I never had a serious MTB till I was 24 - 9 months ago.
|
To be honest, there are really only two major differences I've noticed between riding at 30 and riding at 40.
1. Kids take up much more of your weekend time than you would ever think. 2. Spending a couple thousand on a bike is a lot easier at 40 than spending $500 was at 30 :) |
I have a friend who is 60 and can kick a** when the trail turns up hill.
|
i started more serious biking when i was like 15 and then stopped again .now iam 23 and iam picking up again.
|
26. I haven't ridden in probably 10 years. Sad. I had forgotten how much I love biking. Mark

I'm 35 and only got back into cycling late last year (late autumn) and that's only because my aunt gave me a bike trailer to pull my two daughters around. We had so much fun ging out that I started biking everywhere with them.
I also was using my very old, very crappy bike from when I was probably 17 years old. I needed a new bike and have always loved hiking trails and going off-road. A buddy of mine mountain bikes like crazy and so I gravitated towards a mountain bike. I also like the competition aspect of it. I love doing stuff and I love racing (been involved with motorsport since my early 20s) so this was a great fit. The best part is that MTBing is actually cheap compared to some of the stuff I was doing so I'm actually saving money by doing this. |

(Actually, I think he may have been wandering around the lawn behind the White House in his bathrobe.) |
