I bought this at the local University auction a few days ago for $3.00. Both tires were flat. The headset is missing parts. It has many scratches, two small dings in the top tube and the seat stay, and a chain that is crusted with grease and rust.

Someone had replaced the original fork with a Bone Deth suspension fork. I found a high tensile rigid fork in my parts cache that will work nicely and looks like the original (more or less). At this point, I have $43 in the project - not counting my time. It is too small for me, so if my wife or son do not want it - should I spend more $$ to get it ready for sale?

I realize that it sold new for $895, but that has no bearing on present value.

1993 Schwinn Paramount Series R50 - New and Used Bike Value

A quick search came up with this. Says from fair to like new, the value range is $139-242. It might cost a few to restore it but some might say that it is sacrilege to let it sit unrestored. In the end, only you can truly decide if it's worth restoring/fixing up or not.

I decided not to do a restoration, but I am going to fix it up. I bought a new Aheadset - it was too much trouble to chase down parts for the old one, I had a pair of lightly used 26" x 1.60 knobbies that work well around here.

It will be cleaned, greased, polished, waxed, and ridden before any decision is made on its disposition.
