i was wondering what kind of shorts and jersey's are best for mtbing

are there like different types of materials and brands that are better than others (whats good for hot weather) im kind of on a budget and dont want to spend more than 60usd for shorts and a jersey

i live in a really hot place usually 90-110 degrees ferenheit in ( i guess i started riding at the wrong time ) tucson,az

i wanted to know whats better for like xc riding ill be doing lots of single track & fire roads so dont if i need specific equipment for that

thanx in advance

manny

I'm shopping for shorts right now, but I can wholeheartedly recommend the Champion brand moisture wicking t-shirts from Target. You can get them for $10 per shrt. I bought two of them the other night and they are very nice to go riding in. I saw some Pearl Izumi shorts at a Performance bike shop for $30 the other day. I'm gonna head back and see if they've still got them.

but isn't it a dry heat?

i got a pair of baggy shorts with spandex liner from REI for about 25 bucks.
those champion shirts from target aren't bad, but usually:
if it's not too hot, then i just wear a regular cotton tshirt with the shorts.
if it's cool out, then i throw on some underarmor under the tshirt.
if it's cold out, then i've got my sugois jacket my ex-gf got me (thanks! )

i guess if it's really, really hot you could go with a loose fitting sleeveless jerseys from fox or performance or something.

I have a fox mtb jersey, it keeps you pretty cool if there's wind blowing on you. If not, it's about the same as a T-shirt, maybe a little cooler. And it looks cool.

I have a Roach Jersey which ia made out of the same stuff as madmans Fox jersey, they're very good, keep you warm in winter and cool in summer..

I also ride with cheap mountain biking t shirts made by a small company called base bikes over here, picked them up for 3.99 each, and they're very good also..

And if i run out of them, or they're in the wash, i wear my dirty habit, roach, Six Six one or Raceface clobber

im pretty sure this person is a guy. how does a tubetop stay on? ive seen girl play vollyballl and when they jump wearing tubetops their boobies come out i wear baggy shorts and a wifebeater and my sk8r shoes, so i look like i stole the bike. i dont wear spandex cuze it kills my sperm banks but its up to you. i think spandex looks ghetto, plus 3 layers of shorts (including boxers) would kill you. where a white tshort or a bright color so they dont heat up.

In heat and for XC I have to reccomend the lycra stuff. They just breathe so well. You can usually find the single colored shorts and jerseys for pretty cheap. Also from what I've read, when riding in the desert areas you should wearing long sleeve stuff to protect from the sun. (I would make sure to wear short sleeves a few times so you can get that cool farmer's tan though )

Wheelworld and JensonUsa generally have some good sales. I wear long sleeves in the summer to protect my skin. Azonic and Fox from Wheelworld were about $20 each. I also got some baggy shorts with a chamois liner for about $30. Old Navy had some bike messenger shorts for a while. Gusset in the crotch, plenty of pockets, and bungees on the legs. No padding, but comfy and sweet for when you're in town.

I live in Puerto Rico and what i do is Have one of those shirts from performance bike that let the sweat out, cost about 20 bucks(i like them because they are not tight, but not baggy) And i also bought some cheap lycra with padding so my ass dont feel as bad the next day with a very light pair of b ball shorts from a dept. store. 50 bucks in total there. The pants and shirt last. I have been using the same outfit the last 8 sundays here in PR, and believe me it might not be 110 degrees here but its 98 with the humidity only god knows how high it is. Its sweaty time here.
