Selling, How much to ask?
1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone, I am selling my 1998 Cannondale Suber V Full-suspension MTB. It only has 50 mi on it, My friend left it to me and I really only ride my road bike, but it is a great bike. How much should I ask for it? Thank you!

10 dowra!!!!!!

So in 7 years it only has 50 miles on it...and everything is stock too? Has it been sitting outside or no?
|
Just sitting in that bike room. I'll take it out every once and while and pump up the tires, ride it around. My roomate left it to me in college when he dropped out, he literally bought it two months before. I didn't ride in college, and only commute now on my road bike. It is a shame just to store it, and I don't have the time to take it out to some trails.

Yeah I just saw one on Ebay for $600. I was thinking around $500. So we'll see just posted it on Craigslist

Hard to say with the lack of info. What components, what fork (Cannondale had several different models) what Super V was it? The 500? The 900? ...etc.
I worked in a shop and we had a brand new one that was a '99 that just wouldn't sell. We ended up getting rid of it for $450.00. As old as it is, if you ask $500 and get anything over $400 you'd be doing alright. |
While it may be in "perfect condition" (and I'm not questioning this), you have two things working against the resale price.
1) Technology, new bikes are rated as working better, how else are they going to sell a new bike. If they do or not is up to you to prove. But trail bikes seem to have 4" of suspension these days whereas 3" was the "standard" just 2 years ago, you see where I'm going. Also everyone wants to get into disc brakes aroung the $800 price point, again technology and you don't have it. 2) Maintainability. This bike is seven year old and per your description like new. L:ets say the brake pads are dries up hard (very possible), are replacement pads available? Same for shifter parts, etc. If someone offers you $400 after you tell them the age of the bike take it. |
Thank you everyone for your input, I just sold it last night for $500

I sold it on Chicago's Craigslist (craigslist.org). My LBS recommended it.
|
They buyer was more interested in using as a commuter, and that is how I marketed it as.
