El Cheapo Hardtail

Whaddya think, should I pick up a used Scab for $135? Guy claims it's in good condition, but needs a tuneup and rear brake pads. As far as I can tell, he's asking less for the bike than the frame costs these days.

A Scab for $135 complete???

It's either completely whupped, the guy needs cash, or it's stolen.

If the guy just needs cash, I'd buy it!

thats cheap, but not totally unreasonable, they only retail for 500-550 bucks (ridid fork and low end components), ive seen leftover 04's going for 400 bucks new, so maybe a one thats a few years old and needs a few parts is only worth 150 bucks or so. its a steel frame, so you dont really have to worry about it being a few years old, sounds like a good pickup.

Oh well, false alarm. Turns out it's an 18" frame, and that's a bit big for me.. Especially for that kind of bike.

Thanks anyway, folks.

Who is this guy? I'll buy it, if it's in good condition.

I'm guessing he wants a local buyer, but hell, give it a try.
