Highest Drop?

Mine was about 5 feet at a loacl trail.. How about you?

Bartic 04-27-05 08:26 PM

10.5 to tranny. I'm hopping to go bigger this year but it's harder on the kidneys riding a hardtail.

MadMan2k 04-27-05 08:32 PM

About 6 feet, on a hill. More of a huck I guess...
Landed in some loose sand and just about did another huck without the bike under me :P

anthonaut 04-27-05 08:46 PM

Never have a tape measure with me so i have no idea.

DK Drop 04-27-05 09:10 PM

About 12,000 feet out of a twin engine Cesna. Good lord these thread are such a pissing match, it's laughable.

I'm fairly new to the sport and don't have any real drops. But what is the best way to do a succesful drop? And how hard is it on the bikes? Also is it best to have a higher end bike or is it all in the person. Thanks.

hebrew_rider 04-27-05 10:04 PM

10ft to tranny

dont crash

its hard on the bike if you land hard

the higher end you go the stronger the bike(should) be

ya i dunno either ive never had a tape measure but something around 10 foot vertical

Hopper 04-28-05 02:34 AM

Hell no, I used a real one, it was bright yellow and included in the pic so people would believe me. I thought you were there when I did it.

About 8ft to tranny. It was actually only meant to be a 4ft huck but i when way too fast! (wasn't real pretty....but i stayed on the bike....sort of.)

dirtbikedude 04-28-05 05:48 AM

My biggest drop that was successful was somewhere between 15' and 20' to flat. It was in my younger years. I estimate the hight but I was 5'11" at the time and the drop was about tripple over head. It was not intentional (to much speed and cleared the tranny) and I did bend a lot of parts on the bike since it was my bmx bike.

My biggest unsuccessful drop was a 35 footer onto my back last summer. The only ride that year we did not film :o I guess it was spectacular 'cause I had peole asking me about it that I did not even know and all my buddies thought it was hillarious :D

Around 3 foot to flat and somewhere around 4 to "tranny" on a trail. :) It's true though, I don't take measuring tape either. And mine measures in metric units. :D

Hans21 04-28-05 12:55 PM

i did around 6-7 feet....did not mean to even do half of that all i was doing was jumping over a small stream and i jus kept faling...went over the handle bars.

Ouch. :(

Ronan 9 04-28-05 01:23 PM

i know, extreme newb question. what do you guys mean by " . . . to tranny"?

MadMan2k 04-28-05 01:29 PM

Transition. As in, a hill that transitions from falling through the air to riding on flat ground. Feel free to make as many jokes as possible about the other meaning of tranny though, lol

DjRider04 04-28-05 01:43 PM

Overshot a tranny and ended up doing about 15feet to flat, my legs took the landing the hardest...
